Occupation: Image Capturer & Wordsmith
Growing up, I was the kid who stacked bolsa blocks to the ceiling, wanting to see what the tower looked like. I’d call that younger version of myself a curious visionary, building towers and jumping bikes off stair sets on the weekends. In retrospect, this was the spark for my creativity- the only thing missing was a clear blueprint for my life.
In my neighborhood, the goal was never to be a creative or a writer. The goal was to go to college and help my mom not live from paycheck to paycheck. My first job in high school was working at our local hardware store- carrying sandbags, concrete, and gallons of paint. Honest work, but lacking a certain zest I was after.
Throughout college, I was primarily in surf shops and shooting photos for various news outlets. As my time on campus came to a close, the proverbial “career goalposts” slowly came into focus. Being behind a camera was the one place I felt the most confident, the most focused, and where I’ve learned most about the world and myself.
From filming at remote surf breaks to civil rights protests, to Hollywood film sets, I’ve been fortunate to have collected a wealth of experience.
Which brings us to today. Check out some of my spec-ads or videos. They’ll make you smile at the least, and at most, they’ll expand your horizons past what the algorithm serves daily.
